Love or Friends? Love for Friends?

The fateful day is finally over and as planned, I got a lot of desserts. There is truly nothing better than friends in the life. You can be anything with them - bitchy, whiny, arrogant, happy, idiotic but most of all, you can be yourself with them. You will get judged but you will also get acceptance. There is a level of comfort that no relationship in your life will ever be able to give you. There is a reason why it's "Bros before hoes" and "Sisters before misters."

My Valentine's Day plan was perfectly executed. I knew I was getting something and I wasn't disappointed. Early in the morning I got a huge jar of Banoffee Pie and later in the day I got a Valentine's Day special-box from Dunkin' Donuts  with heart shaped donuts inside. Super cute! This is what friends are for. Who needs a boyfriend when you got a best friend.

Why is friendship sacred you ask? It is the only relationship that comes without obligation. You are not forced to be friends with someone, you either like that person or you don't. Some miracle must have happened in the universe if you end up finding people you're compatible with. Everyone is praying for a soulmate and all I ever wished for were mates. Your friendship is yours and yours only and no one can understand it. The set up  that friends build up is suitable to exactly what they require. You don't meet up everyday, you meet up once a year or you talk every single day or every weekend, depends on your individual equations. It's perfect. Since there aren't too many obligations and expectations, it is the one relationship you can count on. No give and take apart from the occasional birthday gifts, no showoff, no pretense, no drama, just a whole lot of fun!

Now isn't this a better love story?

Every year on 14th February, there is no guarantee that the guy this year would last another. These guys would keep changing but every year on Friendship's Day, your friends will be same. The bond, the love, is invariably greater between friends than it could be in a relationship unless you are in a relationship with your best friend. Kudos to the guy who got out of friendzone!

Candace Bushnell rightly said — 'Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with.'
If you think about it, that's a prophecy right there. Our girlfriends could be the soulmates we've been searching for. They are a perfect fit to the puzzle, they complete our thoughts and sentences. They are the one!

From this day to the days till the end of time, remember you always have someone. You are never alone. Your BFFs would be the best date you've ever had.

Keep loving,
Keep reading.
Spread happiness,
Love thyself.

XOXO
Pearl

Pain

What nobody told us  it never gets better it only gets older sometimes duller.  It stays with you like that ache that you are used to one that doesn't hurt anymore just exists. One fine day you woke up  not the same, an ache where there was none now a part of you follows you where you go grows as you grow older.

Are We Better Than This?

Children near trashcans jumping in joy, You see them playing, Do you see the hunger in their eyes? A woman on the street Walking fast at night, Was she out partying or working How is either of the two an invite? There is fear in every corner Suppression in shadows Filth on the road, Careless storms behind closed doors. Not for you though, You only saw what you wanted to see - The world as it should be. - PS

Book Review: Leah On The Offbeat

You know it is a good book when it ends up schooling you. I am too old to read high school drama anymore but seeing people rave about Simon vs The Homosapiens Agenda and Leah On The Offbeat, I finally gave LOTO a try. And boy am I glad. Initially sceptical, because the writing style is aimed at teenagers, the first few chapters were a bit difficult to get through. I found the language exceedingly plain, it was overall too kiddish.  It was when the characters developed in the next few chapters, that I was hooked. I have yet to read such great character development in a high school book.  Let's start off with Leah. She is your average protagonist -  angry at the world, a broken family, overthinking things, overweight, smart, the only difference, she isn't lonely. She has a lot of friends. Oh and the fact that she is bi, secretly. As we delve further into the book, her layers peel off. She is in love with a girl who is dating her best friend who happens to be a guy.
