Fiction World

You know that moment when you see an awesome movie or finish reading an amazing book and you just don't know what to do with your life anymore. It's like you were so engrossed in something, maybe a tv show, and suddenly it's over and there's just a void in your life that you don't know how to fill. It genuinely hurts. Like you just broke up or something. Sort of like a wake up call, knock on the head, get back in the real world, movie's over.
It is like you wake up and don't know what century you're in. That's how much you got sucked into  the fictional world. And people like me? I will gladly be stuck in the fictional world forever. Very obviously, I am a dreamer. And fiction is my sanctuary. It's better than the real world any day. Most of the time you can figure out what is gonna happen and when you can't, you have faith that it is going to be alright. All's well that ends well. That's all you need to know. Real life, not so happening you see. In fiction you can be anything - a pilot, a doctor, superman, Princess, witch, vampire, just anything. One thing today and another tomorrow. You can be fearless, powerful,  brave, smart, beautiful, handsome,  whatever whoever you want to be. That is the beauty of fiction. It gives you life.
People ask me why I read so much and they don't get it when I say its my life.
Books are my life.
I would cease to exist without my life.
They make me dream, they make me believe in what could never be, they make me feel more than feelings themselves. I feel their pain, I mourn their deaths, I live their lives. They seem more real than life itself. But this isn't just for the readers, it is for everyone who seeks escape whether in movies, tv shows, books, games, art, anything that makes you forget where you are and takes you off to a far far place, one where you never want to return from. Such is the beauty of fiction and such is the intelligence of its creators. Their finesse,  their thoughts, they are incredible. They have the power to make others dream their dreams. They give us lives outside our own and for this I am eternally grateful.

Ps. I just finished seeing 'Divergent' the movie and I loved it. Very few times you get to see a movie do justice to the book. When I read the book, I finished all three in two days. Couldn't stop myself. That's how much the books affected me.

Pps. I can't wait for 'Insurgent' to release.
And today Amazon delivered me my favourite author - Jeffrey Archer's new installment in the Harry Clifton series 'Mightier than the Sword'. Gonna start reading it now.
Super excited.
Xoxo

Pain

What nobody told us  it never gets better it only gets older sometimes duller.  It stays with you like that ache that you are used to one that doesn't hurt anymore just exists. One fine day you woke up  not the same, an ache where there was none now a part of you follows you where you go grows as you grow older.

Book Review: Leah On The Offbeat

You know it is a good book when it ends up schooling you. I am too old to read high school drama anymore but seeing people rave about Simon vs The Homosapiens Agenda and Leah On The Offbeat, I finally gave LOTO a try. And boy am I glad. Initially sceptical, because the writing style is aimed at teenagers, the first few chapters were a bit difficult to get through. I found the language exceedingly plain, it was overall too kiddish.  It was when the characters developed in the next few chapters, that I was hooked. I have yet to read such great character development in a high school book.  Let's start off with Leah. She is your average protagonist -  angry at the world, a broken family, overthinking things, overweight, smart, the only difference, she isn't lonely. She has a lot of friends. Oh and the fact that she is bi, secretly. As we delve further into the book, her layers peel off. She is in love with a girl who is dating her best friend who happens to be a guy.

Are We Better Than This?

Children near trashcans jumping in joy, You see them playing, Do you see the hunger in their eyes? A woman on the street Walking fast at night, Was she out partying or working How is either of the two an invite? There is fear in every corner Suppression in shadows Filth on the road, Careless storms behind closed doors. Not for you though, You only saw what you wanted to see - The world as it should be. - PS
